En el “Action Plan for the conservation of the Eurasian Lynx in Europe”, los investigadores U. & C. Breitenmoser, H. Okarma, T. Kaphegyi, U. Kaphygyi, Wallmann, U. Muller, autores del mapa adjunto, dieron para el año 2001 la siguientes cifras:
2.500 lynx in Nordic population:
Norway, Sweden, and Finland; 873.000 km2.
The Nordic population extends into Russia and Karelia and is through Russian territory connected with the Baltic population. The Nordic population has considerably recovered since the 1950s and is the largest since the 1850s. It is today stable or slightly expanding. All Nordic countries allow quota hunting.
SCANDLYNX coordinates research on Eurasian lynx in Scandinavia. The major goal for is to gather and share knowledge about lynx. Participating institutions: Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) and Grimsö Wildlife Research Station (the Swedish University of Agricultural Science, SLU) constitute the core of SCANDLYNX
